Hi Everyone. Yes, I'm still alive. I just have a bit of Blogger burnout, so I've decided to take a break for a while. I will still read your blogs and leave comments to stay in touch. You may even see a post occasionally, if something excites me. I just need to take a breather and attend to my household. Like I said, I will still continue to read your blogs and leave some love in the comment sections.
See you later.

VISION EXPO NYC
When people think of fashion, they think of clothing mostly. Eyewear has always been a big part of fashion, both RX and sunwear. People are expressing themselves more and experimenting with eyewear. It can really pull an outfit together.
I worked for a well known eyewear company for 9 years and loved every minute of it. I had the opportunity to attend the Vision Expo last Saturday at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan. I got to catch up with old co-workers, sales people, as well as eyeing the newest trends in eyewear. For people who wear prescription frames, there are some exciting trends out right now. I saw alot of Ombre frames, two tones and frost colors. The shapes were pretty much the same, but some companies have obtained some exciting new designers such as Celine, McQueen and Jimmy Choo.
I was excited that my former comany (Luxottica Eyewear) obtained the license to manufacture frames for Giorgio Armani again ( Giorgio and Emporio ). I can't wait to see the new and exciting things they have planned for that line.
I try to be impartial, but Luxottica's sunwear designs for Chanel, Tiffany, Prada, Rayban and Bvlgari are always top of the line.
Safilo (another eyewear company) did a fashion show this year, which incorporated Designer apparel with eyewear. And ...... the fashion show was emcee'd by none other than Carson Lee Kressley. I tried to get pictures, but I did too much socializing and elbow rubbing to get any. I hope you enjoy the ones I did get.

KIEHLS MUSK 1921
When it comes to fragrance, I'm a very basic person. I prefer oils over sprays. I'm also old school with my choice of fragrance. I love musks, amber, vanilla, lavendar, dewberry, etc.
Some of my favorite musks are:
Abdul Kareem Egyptian Musk Oil
A favorite of Caroline Bessette Kennedy and very hard to find. I believe Charlotte Vale Allen is the only official seller of this musk. I purchased a bottle of this last year.
This is my drugstore favorite. I remember wearing this in the 8th grade and thinking I was grown. (Does anyone remember that ? I'm dating myself right now.)
Recently, I have found that Kiehls makes an awesome musk oil. You can purchase it in Spray or Oil roller ball. I'm more partial to the roller ball, because I find oils are stronger and more authentic. I didn't like the price for such a small rollerball, but the smell is mesmerizing and lasts all day.

SWEATSHIRTS
For the last 3 years, sweatshirts have been making a comeback. Back in the day, sweatshirts never saw the light of day, unless you were a man playing touch football on a Sunday. Now retailers have made it cool to wear sweatshirts for work, play and even as evening wear. The tomboy in me, jumps in the air, clicking my heels. To me sweatshirts are the best !!!!!!!!! Here are some of my favorite sweatshirts.

WEDNESDAY PRAISE - GIGI'S GONE SHOPPING
This post is more of a praise. This lady has saved me from many remorseful purchases. I look forward to her thumbs up, down and sideways. HILARIOUS !!!!!
Her family has been going through a rough time, but it amazes me how she managed to keep up with her reviews, blog posts and sales updates. I personally have never seen the elusive Gigi, but here are few of her blog review pictures.
Thank you GIGI.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT FUR ?
My love affair with fur started at a young age. My grandmother bought me my first fur coat when I was about 5 years old. I've loved fur ever since. I think fur can kick a boring outfit up a notch. I'm not talking about full length fur coats, just a little something like a fur collar of scarf even. I've been somewhat good. I've been keeping track of every dollar and paying down some debt. I ventured out to see the President's Day sales about 3 weeks ago. J.Crew (crickets), there was nothing going on in there, so I ventured over to the new shopping center in Westbury, Long Island. I walked into the Bloomingdales outlet, saw nothing. On my way out the door, I saw some fur out of the corner of my eye, could it be ? I found this beautiful Alice + Olivia Durham fur collar cardigan. What's good is that you can use the fur collar on other coats and sweaters.
Here are some my favorite fur ensembles.

EVOLVING
For the last two years I haven't been myself. What I mean is I haven't been my true self, style wise. Remember when I talked about the trap. Well I decided no more. I did a much needed closet haul and cleared out almost half my wardrobe and shoes. When I think back, it was all such a waste of time, especially money. I only keep and purchase things I love now. With such an empty closet, its good to see what I actually have and build from there. As much as I love, love, love J.Crew, I'm starting to entertain other designers. I really like things very simple and uncomplicated. I'm falling in love with Alexander Wang's Tees, Vince, Theory and Thakoon (to name a few). I'm loving over sized jersey tees (very forgiving when you're trying to hide a multitude of faults) and thin linen/cotton tees. Since my style teeters on the tomboy side most of the time, I'm loving some of Helmut Lang's structured pieces. Bloomingdales Outlet, Off Saks Fifth and Nordstrom Rack have become my best friends for these kind of things. You can pick-up these kind of designers at a fraction of the cost. Sometimes the prices are a down right steal. The way I see it, spend money on a few well made pieces, then a whole lot of money on disposable clothing. Do you agree ?
